Choosing from the Heart: A New Relationship with Personal Values

Life constantly presents us with choices. Many of them we make without thinking – habits, patterns, reactions. I lived like this for a long time, guided by autopilot and expectations. But at some point, something inside me started asking: Is this really me? Am I living in alignment with what I truly value?

That’s when I found my way to the Yggdrasil Shamanic School – and began a journey that has transformed both how I view life and who I want to be in it.

A New Relationship with Personal Values

Through the teachings and practices at Yggdrasil Shamanic School, I’ve developed a much more conscious relationship with my values. Not as mere words or ideals, but as living principles that guide my daily navigation. What kind of person do I want to be? What do I wish to contribute to the world?

This process hasn’t always been easy – but it has been deeply meaningful. When I began living out the values that truly matter to me, everything changed: my relationships, my choices – and the way I encounter myself.

I Can Choose – More Than I Thought

One of the greatest insights I’ve gained on this journey is that I’m not a passive victim of circumstances. I can choose. Much more than I previously thought possible. I can choose what I give attention to. I can choose how I react. I can choose which path I want to take.

Actually experiencing this – not just understanding it theoretically – has been liberating. And humbling at the same time. Because with the freedom to choose comes responsibility. And it has helped me stand more firmly in myself.

Landing in the Human – and the Spiritual

I’ve been drawn to spirituality since my youth, but it was through the Yggdrasil Shamanic School that I truly began to understand that spirituality isn’t about being special. It’s not about being chosen or “born with it.” Quite the contrary.

Shamanism isn’t reserved for a select few – it’s a deeply human practice. It’s a path back to the natural, the authentic, and the universal. It’s our birthright. This realization has given me a new form of humility – towards myself, towards nature, and towards other human beings.

Teaching Others – and Watching Them Flourish

What has perhaps meant the most to me in this journey is that I now teach within this tradition. Being able to pass on this knowledge and witness how it opens doors for others has become one of the most meaningful experiences of my life.

Standing alongside people who choose to journey inward, witnessing their growth and insights – it fills me with a profound sense of gratitude. I feel connected to something greater. A movement dedicated to bringing more consciousness, love, and freedom into the world.

A Learning Format that Offers Freedom and Depth

The teaching primarily takes place online, with one annual in-person gathering. I must admit I was initially skeptical. I missed more physical interaction. However, I gradually came to appreciate how valuable the digital format truly is – it provides freedom, flexibility, and the ability to integrate learning into daily life.

I can watch the teachings at home at my own pace, create small communities, and review the material whenever needed. And most importantly: it works. It’s vibrant, profound, and transformative.

A Teacher Who Challenges – and Supports You

Pål-Esben has been my teacher for over a decade. He is the kind of teacher who both supports and challenges – one who is honest, direct, and completely dedicated to his life’s mission. He doesn’t sugarcoat things – and that’s precisely what has helped me grow. He inspires genuine transformation, not superficial improvement, but deep, meaningful change.

This path requires courage. But with Pål-Esben as a guide, I feel both secure and free – free to be myself, to make mistakes, to learn, and to flourish.

A Life Path with Meaning

Looking back, it’s almost surreal how much has changed. Yet simultaneously, it feels entirely natural. This path hasn’t just given me new insights – it has anchored me in who I already was. It has helped me remember my true self. And it has taught me how to live in alignment with that truth.

I now know that I always have a choice. And that choice can come from the heart.
